Lauren Downs
HOSPITALITY COORDINATOR
Lauren has a diverse background in hospitality and customer service. Before joining Valcour Inn & Boathouse, she worked as a Quality Control Inspector and gained experience at the Pearlstone Jewish Retreat Center and St. Mary’s College of Maryland. Her passion for hospitality began at Sweet Sue’s, a cozy bakery and coffee shop in North Beach, MD, where she worked for six years. She dreams of one day opening her own coffee shop and bakery.
She holds a B.A. in Sociology from St. Mary's College of Maryland and is a member of Alpha Kappa Delta, the International Honor Society of Sociology.
As the Hospitality Coordinator, Lauren ensures every guest has a seamless and comfortable stay. She manages reservations and works closely with the housekeeping team to provide a welcoming experience.
Lauren is inspired by the rich history of the Inn and enjoys sharing its story with guests. In her free time, she loves baking, recreating recipes, and spending time with her husband and their two pets, Clover and Dewey.

Richard Lemmond
DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS
Richard G. Lemmond serves as the Director of Operations for Valcour Inn & Boathouse. With over 15 years of experience in operations management, hospitality, and leadership, Richard ensures the seamless day-to-day operation of both the Inn and Twin Valleys facilities. His role encompasses facility management, guest services, event coordination, team development, and overseeing maintenance and compliance efforts.
Before joining Valcour, Richard held leadership roles at Brown University and the University of Texas Medical Branch, where he focused on optimizing operations, streamlining processes, and enhancing team performance across large organizations. His background includes improving efficiency, executing strategic initiatives, and creating welcoming environments for guests and staff.
Richard holds a Bachelor’s degree in Global Relations and is currently pursuing his Master of Business Administration. He is also a proud member of the Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Society.
Outside of work, Richard enjoys spending time with his pets, exploring the Adirondacks, and volunteering with community organizations.

Shari Welch
HOUSEKEEPER
Shari brings over 20 years of experience in caregiving and hospitality to Valcour Inn & Boathouse. With 17 years as a Home Health Aide (HHA) and Certified Nurse Aide (CNA), she has dedicated her career to maintaining welcoming and comfortable spaces. For the past three years, she has specialized in housekeeping.
She holds certifications as an HHA, CNA, and Med Tech and has an Associate’s degree in Business Administration.
As the housekeeper at Valcour Inn & Boathouse, Shari ensures that guest rooms, event spaces, the Inn, and the Cottage are always clean and inviting.
She finds joy in seeing guests enjoy the beauty of the Inn while making special memories. In her free time, she loves crocheting, crafting, and spending quality time with her daughter.
